It is surprisingly uncomplicated to go about Samui in order to take part in the various activities and view the attractions. A round trip in a car typically takes around an hour and is not difficult to do at all. You also won't get the whole experience of this island unless you get on a bike and ride out on some trails. Let's take a look at some of the many different kinds of transportation that are at our disposal.

Songthaews

During the evening hours, the pick-up trucks, which are painted a brilliant shade of red and is referred to as Songthaew, operate as the public transit system on the island. The Songthaews will travel all around the island according to a set of predetermined routes; however, they will not make any scheduled stops along the way. You may signal that you need to leave by pressing the button, but if you are unable to do so, you can also indicate that you wish to leave by knocking on the roof.

Car rentals

Renting a personal vehicle is a great option for getting around on this island because it enables you to navigate the many narrow roads and paths that ultimately lead into the woods or to idyllic islands with many small coves along with sandy beaches. As there are plenty of things to do in Samui, you will be able to cross off your checklist quite quickly given that you won't be wasting time on public transport. If you do not have your vehicle, you will not be able to access these areas. Manual Suzuki jeeps are often leased by local operators; however, major car rental businesses like Avis and Budget provide customers with a choice between manual and automatic sedans, in addition to air-conditioned automobiles, jeeps, and other vehicles. It's possible that smaller companies may want you to keep your passport as a form of security. Check to see if "full insurance" has been provided. If it hasn't, you might be held liable for the expenses of any damage that occurs. In addition, resorts like Avani+ Samui Resort also provide transport to take you around. Given that, you'll be provided with a local driver – he will know every nook and cranny of the place.

Samui Motorcycle Rentals

For a daily fee of 150-250 Baht, visitors visiting Samui have the option of renting a 100cc Honda Wave scooter or a CVT scooter. Try to avoid acquiring a "Samui tattoo", which is a burning feeling that occurs on the right thigh when you get off the motorcycle and is caused by the muffler. Fully automated bikes, such as the Yamaha Nuvos, have a higher starting price point (about between 200 and 300 Baht), but they are simpler to ride for novice riders. Also, know that Samui has the highest rate of deaths caused by road accidents of any other island in the country. Motorcyclists put themselves in harm's way more than other motorists do. The local traffic is almost never kind to pedestrians. Driving requires complete concentration and sobriety at all times. Since motorcycles often do not have insurance, you will be financially responsible for any accidents you cause.

Bicycles

On this island, you may hire a decent bicycle for a reasonable price of 80 Thai baht per day. It is strongly recommended that nighttime riding be avoided. Since it is more difficult to navigate the routes at night, you will be more susceptible to danger. Just be careful to stay off your bike after the sun goes down! Nevertheless, during the daylight hours, it doesn't get much better than this!
