How to find the perfect spots to learn diving?

The first rule of learning to dive is finding a good spot. Some people learn to dive in pools while others prefer a more exotic location. Maldives island resorts fall into the latter category. You can find a wonderful sea world to explore in places like the Huvafen Fushi Maldives. Your diving instructor would be able to find you the perfect conditions to take your first dive. You would need to dive into clear, relatively still waters to be able to learn the perfect balance.

The first diving lesson in the Maldives

Your diving instructor will start the lesson with a basic explanation of the theory. They will also explain the ins and outs of the equipment you need to dive into. The theory part will probably take about half a day. You will learn about the rules of breathing under water and pressure, skills to ensure safety, navigation, and communication underwater. The theory is not hard to grasp but it does require a few hours of your time. You’ll also get a reference manual with all the materials you need. Once they cover the theory part, your instructor will take you to the lagoon or shallow waters to begin actual diving.

How to prepare for scuba diving lessons?

You don’t necessarily have to be an Olympic-grade swimmer to learn to dive, but you do need to be able to swim. Before you begin your scuba diving lesson, you’ll first lie on your back and float for about 10 minutes. You would need to swim for about 200 meters while wearing a mask, fins, and snorkel without pausing. Then you’ll start mastering the practical skills of buoyancy control, comfortable descent, and ascent. Your first lesson will take place in the shallow waters of the lagoon.

How to manage your first open-water dive?

Your first open dive will most likely involve 40 feet deep water. Before and during your open dive you will do the following:Ø  Check your equipment and state of health before eh diveØ  Practice comfortable buoyancyØ  Execute the skills you learnt during theory lessons and still watersØ  Explore the underwater world with fellow diversHowever, before you dive, the instructor will create a dive plan. You should follow the plan to a T and listen to your gut. It is important to maintain a good line of communication with your diving buddy. In addition, pay attention to what the instructor tells you about staying safe underwater. Learn about gas narcosis and decompression sickness as well as how to respond to the tell-tale signs.

How to master scuba diving smoothly?

Remember to breathe. You are wearing an oxygen tank, and you can afford to breathe normally. Relax – then inhale and exhale slowly. Don’t be afraid to follow your instinct. And don’t rush to go back up. A sudden change in water pressure can result in lung problems. A good rule of thumb is to ascend slower than the bubble column that you emit as you exhale. Avoid too much movement. Water is approximately 800 times denser than air and you need to save your breath and energy with restricted movement. The key is to learn the art of patience and slow, calculated movements.
