Looking forward to your vacation in the Maldives? It’s not surprising. After all, the Maldives is one of the most beautiful destinations in the world. This cluster of islands features beautiful beaches dotted with palm trees, and the blue waters of the ocean look inviting to water sports enthusiasts. The Maldives is blessed with plenty of sunshine, so your packing list should include things that will help you to fare well in hot weather.

How to pack for your Maldives vacation

The main factor you need to consider is the weather and the season you’ve chosen to visit the country. If you visit during the rainy season, for example, you might want to pack a raincoat. Your packing list should also be determined by the kind of Maldives resort you’ve chosen for your vacation. For instance, if you’ve chosen the likes of Kurumba Maldives, you won’t have to bring all your toiletries. The activities you’ve planned for yourself should also be factored in. If you want to enjoy snorkelling, for example, you might have to bring your snorkelling gear – again, this depends on the kind of resort you’ve chosen, so check with your resort or tour operator to find out if you’ll be provided with all the equipment.

Clothing

You definitely don’t need heavy clothing items for your Maldives vacation. All your clothes should be made of light and breathable material. Before you start packing clothes for your vacation, think about the kind of activities you are planning to do. For example, if romantic dinners are in the cards, you need evening wear.A typical packing list for a tropical getaway should include the following:

  • Swimwear
  • Sandals
  • Coverups
  • Summer dresses

Sunscreen

You are travelling to a tropical destination, so you need your sunscreen. It should be good quality and bear a good level of SPF. When you want to lie down on the soft beach sand or the sunbed at your resort, you need to slather your skin with sun lotion. Sunrays here can be pretty harsh and will burn your skin if you are not careful.

Sun hat

For good measure, throw in your sunhat as well. It should have a wide brim so that it can protect your face and neck. Make sure you buy your sunhat before arriving in the Maldives because buying one here could set you back a lot of money.

Sunglasses

You should also protect your eyes, so make sure you have your sunglasses with you. Don’t think this is not important; UV rays can be extremely harmful to your eyes.

Dry bags

These are a lifesaver! Whenever you want to go on a boat tour or indulge in water sports, you need to find a way to store all your valuables. Dry bags are very useful if you want to put all your essentials in one bag and carry them around with you.

Wet bags

Wet bags are used to store wet things. For example, your wet towel or swimsuit should be placed inside a wet bag and kept separate from your dry things. So, you should definitely invest in a wet bag.

Underwater camera

Water sports are one of the best things about the Maldives. During snorkelling and diving sessions, you are sure to come across many memorable and beautiful moments that you’ll want to keep with you forever. So, invest in an underwater camera. You don’t need a big budget to buy one; there are plenty of budget options available.

Snorkelling gear

Many resorts and tour operators offer snorkelling gear at affordable rates – although the word affordable is subjective when it comes to holidaying in the Maldives. If you don’t want to use snorkelling gear used by someone else, you should bring your own; you should at least bring your own snorkelling mask.
