Ranked among the Middle East's top tourist hubs, the capital of Qatar truly packs in a punch in terms of value for money. Those who are heading to this dynamic modern metropolis for two days may not be able to experience all that the city has to offer but that does not mean that 48 hours is in any way insufficient. Here are some tips on how to spend two days in the Qatari capital so as to get a sense of its culture, identity and best highlights.

1. Stay in a Central Location

Those who have only two days to spend in Doha city must first secure a strategically located rest. Whether you select the Souq Al Wakra Hotel Qatar by Tivoli or any one of the best hotels in Qatar, it is crucial to gauge the property's location and its proximity to the major points of interest and activity bases in Doha. Time is of the essence and wasting time on travelling to and from attractions and landmarks that are miles away from your base is a poor plan. So, a rest that affords easy access to the main highlights should be preferred over a plush venue with more creature comforts.

2. Day One - Morning

Reserve the first morning of your stay in Doha to experience a unique landscape that's only accessible during a trip to a desert city. There's no better way to spend the morning hours than on a 4x4 drive across the vast Inland Sea that's located a stone's throw away from the heart of Doha. Those who wish to work in a dune bashing session can also pencil the activity in with the assistance of their tour operator as desert safaris can be more than just a bumpy ride in one of the world's most inhospitable terrains.

3. Day One - Afternoon and Evening

After spending a thrilling morning in the desert, tourists can unwind in the lush greenery of Aspire Park. As a public park lined with trees and sprawling lawns, the area is perfect for a picnic lunch. Don't forget to stop by The Villagio Mall, located nearby for a hearty meal at the food court or a shopping spree you won't soon forget. When it comes to spending the after-dark hours on your first night in Doha, look no further than the Katara Cultural Village or the Entertainment World Village, two powerhouse nightlife and cultural hubs that also double as amusement parks with excellent dining options.

4. Day Two - Morning

Dedicate the last morning of your stay in Doha to visiting some of the city's most illustrious museums and cultural points of interest including the National Museum of Qatar and the iconic Museum of Islamic Art. The latter, which was designed by Louvre Pyramid designer I.M Pei, is a treat for the senses while other museums worth your time include the Katara Art Centre, the Sheikh Faisal Bin Qassim Al Thani Museum and Mathaf: Arab Museum of Modern Art.

5. Day Two - Afternoon & Evening

While there are a great many restaurants and nightlife venues in which to spend your last afternoon in the Qatari capital, none offer the range of the Doha Corniche. The area, which offers unhindered ocean views, not only provides picnic areas and barbeque amenities but is also lined with trendy cafes and restaurants. After a relaxing stroll and grabbing a bite at the Doha Corniche, visitors can sign up for a dhow cruise to bid adieu to the great city of Doha before they have to grab their bags from the hotel and head to the airport.
