Timing and Duration

Although a great many beach holiday destinations are promoted as year-round vacation hotspots, the Seychelles Islands are one of the few locations that actually fits the bill. With warm and sunny weather prevailing throughout the year, these stunning beach-laden islands near the equator are ideal for a vacation all year long. When it comes to deciding on the duration of the stay, tourists may want to consider their budget as well as how much time they wish to spend on each island. Generally speaking, it is possible to explore the top highlights in the Seychelles during a 10-14-day getaway.

Budgeting the Trip

While the Seychelles may not be one of the most budget-friendly beach holiday destinations in the world, it is not overly costly when considering some of the globe's more exclusive beach paradises. A two-week trip including airline tickets, accommodation and transport costs can set one back about €1600 per traveller but this also depends on the choice of hotel and the types of activities and excursions tourists sign up for.

Choosing the Islands

The next step in planning a beach holiday in the Seychelles is narrowing down the islands that one hopes to visit. As a rule of thumb, first-time visitors should attempt to spend time on three of the most popular islands in the Seychelles. This includes La Digue, Mahé and Praslin where a vast majority of the main attractions and activity bases also happen to be located. Apart from these 3 islands, those with time to spare can read up on some of the lesser-known isles in the country and plan excursions to these remote and secluded areas of the Seychelles after covering the big three. After selecting the islands, it is necessary to book Seychelles resorts on each island. Whether it's the Anantara Maia Seychelles Villas or any similar resorts, the ideal rest should be close to the main international airport and key attractions.

Create an Itinerary

While it is possible to spend the whole of the getaway lounging by the pool or the beach, visitors who create a daily itinerary for their stay are likely to get more out of the holiday experience. In addition to signing up for snorkelling and scuba diving tours, those who are visiting the Seychelles islands should also book excursions to the UNESCO World Heritage Site, Vallée de Mai. This nature reserve where Coco de Mer palm trees are found in abundance is not all there is to see in Praslin Island where the captivating Fond Ferdinand Nature Park is also found. Dedicate a day to beach hopping around Cote d’Or, Anse Lazio and Anse Georgette while a trip to Curieuse Island where giant tortoises are found is another must for first-timers.

Packing Tips

When it comes to packing for a trip to Seychelles, it's important to keep in mind that less is more. Cotton and other breathable materials are ideal for the warm climate of the Seychelles islands while flip flops and a pair of sneakers will suffice as far as footwear is concerned. Sunscreen and sunglasses are not optional for a trip to the Seychelles where the sun shines bright during most months of the year while a separate water-proof container with all of one's medical needs and first-aid supplies must also be packed into the main luggage. This is especially relevant for those who take medication daily for chronic conditions.
